Oates and Cole win top awards
The Isle of Man FA Annual Awards Presentation took place on Thursday 15th June 2023 at Douglas Golf Club.
Rhys Oates from Peel received the Burrell Rose Bowl as the Canada Life International Premier League Player of the Year, after receiving the lion’s share of votes cast by clubs at the mid-season point in January. Meanwhile, the new Canada Life Women’s Player of the Year award was presented to Douglas Royal and Isle of Man player, Rebecca Cole, who received the most player of the match votes from opposition teams throughout the season.
The Jacksons U18 League Player of the Year was Onchan’s Tom Creer, for the second year running, and the Canada Life U21 Player of the Year was Erin Sells of Corinthians, who will also be heading to the Island Games in Guernsey next month.
The Alf Rigby Canada Life Premier League Golden Boot winner was Luke Booth who scored 30 league goals for his side Union Mills. Owen Canipa was awarded the Isle of Man Newspapers DPS ltd Silver Boot as Division Two’s top scorer, putting away 36 league goals for St Marys.
Owen was also named the Alun Lennon DPS ltd Division Two Player of the Year.
Rushen United’s Luke Roberts was once again named the Canada Life Combination One Player of the Year – he was also second highest goal scorer in the league with 27 on target.
Another St Marys player – Ciaran Smith – won the DPS ltd Combination Two Player of the Year. Ciaran was also second highest goal scorer in the league with a tally of 26.
After claiming last year’s Golden Boot, Steven Priestnal impressed for Onchan Masters this season and was awarded the IOMFA Masters Player of the Year.
Finally, Gymns took home the Fred Faragher Award for Fair Play for the best disciplinary record of all our clubs.
