Rushen United claimed their only silverware of the 2023-24 season when they beat Ayre United in the ECAP FA Cup Final on Easter Saturday.

Rushen took the lead on the 42 minute through Furo Davies, but Ayre started the second half with renewed vigour and Chris Duggan scored a deserved equaliser around 65 minutes.

Despite being down to nine-men following two red cards, Ayre United maintained the score line through normal time and extra time. An own goal put them 2-1 up, but after a hand ball by a Tangerine defender, Davies calmly slotted home the resulting penalty to level it up again.

The match went to penalties and it was Rushen who were celebrating after ECAP Player of the Match, Jack Gilbert, put it past Ayre 'keeper Nathan Teare.
