Long signs new professional contract with Wigan Athletic
Isle of Man-born Adam Long has signed a three-year contract with Wigan Athletic FC, which will keep him at the League One club until 2023.
The 20-year-old defender first signed for ‘The Lactics’ in 2017 after impressing in academy and youth team fixtures. He has played for the first team 17 times this season (2020/21), to date.
Adam started his playing career at Union Mills before transferring to St George’s at senior level. He also represented Ballakermeen High School during his time there.
Adam trained within the Isle of Man Football Association Centre of Excellence programme from the under 11 group through to the under 18 squad and represented the Isle of Man under 18 team, participating in lots of off-island matches during this time. Adam also attended an IOM Sports Institute Strength and Conditioning Programme to support his physical development.
